MomQ Report for Friday

MomQ got married housing today.  She had pine sol and bleach available and was able to scrub it down yesterday.  She sounded like she was doing well today and was glad to have that under her belt.  She still expects Larry-Pop on Monday.  She asked for an extra set of sheets and would have liked to have had some plastic gloves, but no major needs.  She sounded good today.

Update on Mom-Q

I am going to post these as “Mom-Q” updates.  I don’t want people doing internet searches for the word “mom” to land here.  And I plan to create a sidebar button with “MomQ” on it so that those needing to read quickly and get updates specifically on Mom can read them quickly there.

I hope to pull together an email list for those requesting updates soon, but right now, the world is spinning too fast.  We are having carpet laid tomorrow, and The Hub needs all my help moving things and tearing up the whole house.  I’ve not been in my own bed since Tuesday night anticipating this grand event.  I’ll be glad for some normally returning, if only as a result of new carpet!

Having said that:

I will try to blog with Mom’s best in mind…not sure what she would want me to share or say, so I pray for her grace until I get a better handle on how to best honor her in sharing, but I’ll do my best for now.  So many of you are praying for her and emailing.  I’m hoping to keep up with it all for now in this way.  I’ll seek her input and advice on that when I get to speak with her again.

Today (yesterday for Mom), was a challenge for mom. Things will get better when they receive and acknowlege her marriage certificate we sent yesterday and free up all her belongings and mail!  As you can imagine, finding one’s way around unfamiliar places, dealing with a lot of paperwork and learning, and learning to sleep in a strange place would take their toll.  I pray she is sleeping well right now as I type.  I think that would help her most for tomorrow.

It would be hard to not have the niceties (tea bags, Bible) at the day’s end to refresh oneself!  Thankfully, she bought that extra duffle and packed enough clothes for a few days!

I reminded her how proud we are of her, and how strong she is in the Lord.

She got news, a message from Larry that he would be released early, in just a couple days to come to her, but then the same messenger called later to tell her they had asked the man to send five changes of clothes for him. So many unknowns.

What a trooper!  I’m praying she is strengthened in a special way during this time.

On my crew:  Red’s stitches look great today.  He says they don’t hurt at all, but he was a bit high strung today.  He is fine, though.  He didn’t cry at all during the stitches and we are so proud of him, too.

The children will be here the next two days!   I am planning much reading of books and doing of crafts to try to keep them out from underfoot while carpet is laid.

Boy Wonder’s first youth retreat is going well. The topic is  “purity”–can’t believe my son is old enough for such thoughts!  Lord, bless. Two chaperones have the stomach flu on their trip today, and they got stuck in a two hour traffic pile up last night getting there, but things seem normal today.  They were having a great time at Wonder Works and were enjoying laser tag.

Well, I must go.  Thank you, friends, for reading, and for your grace.  Feel free to comment, friends and family, for I know it encourages mom greatly to see community, as it always does me.  (If you don’t see your comment appear, the spam filter has caught it.  I recover those several times a day and they will appear.)

Magnanimity (derived from the Latin roots magn- great, and anima, soul) is the virtue of being great of mind and heart. It encompasses, usually, a refusal to be petty, a willingness to face danger, and actions for noble purposes. Its antithesis is pusillanimity. Both terms were coined by Aristotle, who called magnanimity "the crowning virtue."

Noah Webster's 1828 Dictionary of the American Language defines Magnanimity as such:

MAGNANIM'ITY, n. [L. magnanimitas; magnus, great, and animus, mind.] Greatness of mind; that elevation or dignity of soul, which encounters danger and trouble with tranquillity and firmness, which raises the possessor above revenge, and makes him delight in acts of benevolence, which makes him disdain injustice and meanness, and prompts him to sacrifice personal ease, interest and safety for the accomplishment of useful and noble objects.[1] (Source: Wikipedia)

Please know that I am not posting as an expert, but as a fellow traveler. I recommend that you research and double check things on your own before taking any advice or instruction from this site.  Information is given in good faith for the time period in which it was written. I am also an affiliate of the Sure Cuts A Lot software, for Cricut, which means you don't need Cricut cartridges to cut any font or .jpg on your computer.  I get some pocket change for introducing you if you choose to buy it by clicking on my site.  And we all know I need more cardstock, so I do appreciate it.  I sometimes review other products for a fee, but I am not required to give a positive review, and post honestly as to my experience.  I hope you find this useful.
